Whenever Jesuits come together, it’s a cause for celebration and joy. The group of young priests awaiting tertianship had their first meeting on October 21-22 at Ashirvad which was a perfect blend of reflection and relaxation. It was a time to come together sharing joys and struggles with each other and strengthening the bonds of Jesuit brotherhood.
On the first day Rev. Dr Joe Kokandathil, SDB spoke on ‘Managing relationships and emotional hygiene.’ Fr Joe emphasised that many of the contemporary challenges revolved around relationships. “The best way to be happy is to cultivate genuine relationships,” he said.
Fr Kokandathil also taught certain awareness techniques to deal with emotions. He drew attention to the mental stress prevalent in India, and how the methods taught in this session would serve as a valuable resource in the ministry, particularly for healing.
The second day was a day of relaxation and entertainment. The young priests went to Lagos palm house for a day of outing. There was much laughter, excitement and fun as they played, sang and swam together.
Fr Dionysius Vaz, Provincial, and Fr Prashanth D’Souza, PCF, were present.
