Renovated domestic chapel of St Aloysius College (SAC) community was blessed and inaugurated on Wednesday, November 10. While senior community member Fr Leo D’Souza SJ cut the ribbon to mark the inauguration, Fr Santosh Kamath SJ solemnly opened the main door of the chapel.
Bishop of Shivamogga Rev Francis Serrao SJ blessed the chapel. In his homily during the mass, Bishop Serrao stressed the importance of becoming a holy temple of the Holy Spirit. “Where two or three are gathered in the name of the Lord to set the oppressed free, to bring about justice etc, the Lord resides there,” he said. He also added that it is important to become the holy tabernacles of the Lord. Quoting an old Kannada poem, he said that we must become rosary before counting the rosary beads and make ourselves holy before raising holy places to God.
In his welcome message, Rector of SAC, Fr Melwin Pinto SJ said that the renovation of the chapel was a felt need for many years. He thanked everyone who helped in this project.
The renovated recreation room was also blessed by Bishop Serrao.
