On : 2025-01-14

Bikkodu, Belur – January 13-14, 2025 – The KJES youth animators gathered for a silent Ignatian retreat at Bikkodu, near Hassan, guided by Fr. Maxim Dias, SJ. The retreat provided a profound opportunity for spiritual reflection, personal growth, and deepening faith.

The retreat commenced with interactive activities, including name-learning games and religious action songs, engaging all 19 participants. These icebreakers created a vibrant atmosphere, setting the tone for the deeper spiritual journey ahead. Participants were introduced to the Principle and Foundation and key themes of the Spiritual Exercises. They reflected on their lives, recognizing and appreciating God’s blessings. Through meditation, they focused on positive experiences, supportive relationships, and proud decisions, fostering gratitude and awareness of God’s presence in daily life.
In later sessions, participants shared personal struggles in pairs, cultivating an environment of mutual support and understanding. The first day concluded with a communal dinner and a reflective circle around a campfire, where attendees shared impactful life experiences.
The second day began with yoga and breathing exercises, preparing the group for a contemplative session on the use of the senses. This session encouraged deep meditation and a more profound connection with scripture.
The retreat concluded with a creative and meaningful Mass, during which participants exchanged a communal sign of peace. Fr. Dias inspired everyone with his message to “be MAGIS” in their endeavours, urging them to strive for excellence and unlock their full potential in all aspects of life.
The retreat proved to be a transformative experience, leaving participants with lasting reflections and a strengthened connection to their faith.
