Governor inaugurates St Aloysius International School Harihar

St Aloysius International School, Harihar was inaugurated by the Governor of Karnataka Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot on June 25. The day also celebrated as the 457th anniversary of the feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga.
In his message, Mr Gehlot said that St Aloysius inspires all youth to be resilient and strive for greater good. He saluted the commitment of Jesuit fathers who are working in more than 112 countries. “The selfless service of Jesuit fathers must be commended and this school is yet another example,” he added.
Along with the Governor there were other significant guests such as Shri B P Harish, MLA; Bishop Francis Serrao SJ of Shimoga diocese; Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, provincial; Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions Mangalore and Harihar.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Serrao said that St Aloysius is the significant patron for the institution. “St Aloysius had great love for the least, the lost and the last. This new school will strive to emulate the values of this saint to be men and women for and with others, irrespective of caste and creed,” he added.
MLA Mr Harish placed on record the contributions of Christian missionaries towards the uplift of society, particularly the marginalised. “Christian fathers and sisters have always made selfless service as their motto,” he said.
Provincial Fr Dionysius Vaz reiterated that the new institution in Harihar would stand for Chrisitan values of academic excellence, character formation and social consciousness.
Fr Eric Mathias SJ, Director of St Aloysius Institutions, Harihar, Chandrakanth, PRO of St Joseph’s Institute of Management, Bangalore, were present on the dais. A statue of St Aloysius Gonzaga was unveiled on the occasion.
Later, Governor visited St Mary’s Basilica, Harihar.
