AICUF Karnataka commemorated the third death anniversary of Fr Stan Swamy SJ, at St Joseph's Pre-University College, Bengaluru, on July 3.  Fr Stan Swamy was a Jesuit and social activist who was incarcerated allegedly for links with Maosits, which even after three years has not yet been established. The case is being fought in the court by his followers to exonerate him.

The programme began with an inter-religious prayer session, highlighting Fr Stan's dedication to inclusivity. Attendees paid homage to Fr Stan by garlanding his photograph and lighting candles. Dr Paul Newman delivered a talk on Fr Stan’s relentless fight for justice. Dr Newman said that Fr Stan Swamy had unwavering commitment towards Adivasi rights. "Fr Stan's life and legacy were dedocated to advocating the empowerment and protection of tribal communities, He was tireless in his efforts to uphold the rights and dignity of Adivasis," he added.

A video showcasing Fr Stan's impactful life and work was presented, followed by a candlelight vigil march symbolising hope and justice.

The event concluded with Mr Salman reading the preamble and a silent group prayer with candles, embodying a shared commitment to Fr Stan's mission.
