700 delegates attend South Asian Magis programme

Over 700 delegates from India and other South Asian countries attended the South Asian MAGIS programme held at Ranchi, Jharkhand on October 18-21. From Karnataka alone there were 22 candidates from Manvi, Mundgod, Gulbarga, Hassan, Bangalore and Mangalore. Delegates left with a deeper understanding of different cultures, enhanced leadership skills, and a commitment to social service and personal development. Various sessions of information were dealt on spiritual, political, sociological, ecological, and economical aspects.

Fr Joel Fernandes of Karnataka Jesuit province was one of the resource persons. He spoke about the ‘Role of youth in nation building’, underlying the importance of election as well as the present scenario of the country. MAGIS also succeeded in fostering unity among youth from diverse backgrounds. Karnataka Magis group was given an opportunity to visit the place of Fr Stan Swamy, a social activist who died a year ago. It was a memorable and valuable visit for the delegates.
