Ten Jesuit novices of Karnataka province pronounceed their first vows in the Society of Jesus on June 21. Those who took the first vows are Abhishek, Akshay, Harrison, Jeevan, Manvith, Princeton, Robert, Royal, Sudarshan, and Vivek.

The theme of the day was ‘Igneum Amorem’ - 'Ignited by Love'. The eucharist was presided over by Fr Dionysius Vaz, Provincial, and concelebrated by Fr Anthony Joseph, Rector, Fr John Pradeep, Novice Director, Fr Clarence D'Souza, and Fr Jossie Lobo.

In his homily, Fr Jossie emphasised the significance of the novices' commitment to God’s love and call. The homily provided guidance and inspiration, encouraging the vowents to remain steadfast in their vowed life.

Later, the novices kneeled and pronounced their vows in the presence of celebrants. Provincial Fr Vaz received the vows of the novices.

As part of the ceremony, the novitiate bulletin, ‘Navataranga,’ was released, showcasing the novices' experiences, reflections, and growth throughout their formation. This publication is a testament to their transformative journey in the novitiate. Sch Vivek D’Souza, the editor of the bulletin, introduced the bulletin to the assembly.

The ceremony concluded with the message from Fr Provincial and Novice Director, expressing their immense joy, encouragement, and blessings for the vowents. They acknowledged the unwavering commitment and dedication of the novices, offering valuable guidance and reassurance as they embarked on their journey ahead as Jesuits.

Following this religious celebration, a short felicitation programme and agape were held.

Prior to vows day, the novices underwent an intense 8-day retreat under Fr. Clarence D'Souza. The choir for the eucharist was led by the other novices.
