On : 2023-02-21

YUVA-2023 (Youth United with Values and Attitudes) was held in Shanthisadan School premises, Dharwad on February 5. Around 160 students from all faiths gathered in the morning for the grand inauguration by the Additional Commissioner of HDMC, Hubballi Mr Shankaranand Banashankari.

The inter-religious prayer set the tone for the day. Mr Banashakari, addressing the gathering said that using opportunities given in YUVA should make the youngsters more pro-active in this 21st century. He urged the youth to make use of the opportunities to broaden their vision. He symbolically inaugurated YUVA 2023 by joining the letters of YUVA and declaring it open.

The designated committees were instrumental in managing the entire day. Trained youth volunteers from Mangalore and Bangalore made a big difference in entertaining the crowd.

There were several input sessions on self enhancement, soft skills, skill-based learning, motivation, peace and harmony, use of media and group activities by renowned resource persons. All the topics were planned by keeping in mind all the four UAPs and KPAPs of Jesuits. Mr & Mrs Shubam Rai couple spoke on competitive exams, Ms Perina Xavier, a government official, touched upon the opportunities in the government sectors, Frs Marcel Rodrigues, Joyson Vas and Maxim Dias enlightened the students on use of media, personality development and religion and peace. A lot of group dynamics and spot games kept the whole group enthused.

College going students, competitive exam preparation students, unorganised youth from slums and the working crowd were part of this one day event. YUVA circle sharing like that of Mag+s circle at the end served as a reflective and fruit gathering session.

Since this programme was held after a gap of five years, there was quite a bit of excitement among the participants. YUVA 2023 helped in knowing each other’s culture and creed.
