Loyola PU College Vijayapura inaugurated

The blessing and inauguration of the newly constructed Loyola PU College Vijayapura was held on January 3.
Bishop of Gulbarga, Rev. Robert Michael Miranda presided over the function. Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit province Fr Dionysius Vaz inaugurated the building.
Bishop Miranda, in his address highlighted the invaluable contribution of Jesuits to the field of education in north Karnataka, emphasising their commitment to shaping young minds.
Fr Vaz, in his address, stressed the paramount importance of education for the empowerment of the most deserving sections of society.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Sangamesh Bableshwar, KPCC secretary and chairman of Ammana Madilu Trust. Mr Bableshwar encouraged students to strive for excellence not only in academics but also in their social lives.
Following the formal proceedings, the cultural programme unfolded. The cultural presentation depicted the rich cultural tapestry of Viayapura and north Karnataka, showcasing the diversity and traditions of the region.
Among the distinguished attendees were former Jesuits who had served in Vijayapura, religious nuns, well-wishers, and benefactors.
Fr Francis Menezes, superior of Vijayapura mission, Fr Santhosh Fernandes, Principal, Loyola School, Fr Teyol Machado, social work coordinator, among others, were present.
