Jesuit family get-together in Bangalore

The first zonal level family gathering of Karnataka Jesuit province took place on May 14 at St Joseph’s Primary School Auditorium, Bengaluru. Drawing inspiration from the synod, the organising committee, headed by Fr Joseph D’Souza SJ, Rector of Inigo Sadan, chose the theme ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವ, ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುವಿಕೆ, ಸೇವಾನಿಯೋಗ (Communion, Participation, and Mission).

Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, Provincial of Karnataka province, presided over the eucharistic celebration. The novices from Mount St Joseph, sang the choir. Fr Shantharaj SJ preached the homily.  

After the eucharist, Frs Pradeep RS and Praveen Martis, from Jesuit Nivas, guided the gathering into a fun-filled, frolicky interactive session, where the family members of the Jesuits mingled with one another, and established a bond. Fr John Pradeep SJ, Novice Master, addressed the gathering, drawing from the wellsprings of Ignatian spirituality. Mr Anthony Edward, father of Sch. Abraham Clinton SJ, and Mr Jerrin Chandan, brother of Fr Leo Florence SJ, shared their sentiments and opinions about the Jesuits.

A video on the Jesuit life and formation by Fr Arul Anthony SJ and Sch. Joswin SJ was screened. The programme concluded with a sumptuous and delicious agape.

The family members went around looking at the lives of some outstanding Jesuits of our province which were decked on the walls, along with the pictures of Jesuit communities, the books published and art by our Jesuits, the stages of formation, unique moments of the Society and the province. The family members were also seen thronging the photo booth to capture their pictures with the Jesuit of their family.
