Jesuit alumnus Allan Shenoi has been spearheading a silent solar revolution in the Karnataka Jesuit province. An alumnus of St Aloysius College, Mangalore, Mr Shenoi presently lives in California USA. He has been a very generous donor for the solar projects in the Jesuit province of Karnataka through his Allan & Lalita Charitable Foundation.

Some of his major solar projects include Loyola Central School, Mundgod; Loyola School, Sindagi; Sangama Social Centre, Sindagi; Xavier School and Loyola Hostel, Manvi, among others.

Mr Shenoi has been involved in philanthropic projects for many years now. A staunch propagator of green initiatives, he has been supporting Jesuits to promote green initiatives in their institutions in Karnataka.

The province development director Fr Arun Luis SJ says: “Mr Allan Shenoi has made it his life’s mission to promote green projects. In Manvi of Raichur district, for example, the entire Jesuit campus is solar driven, thanks to his generous help. He has also helped Pannur school and the villages to procure clean water. The 40 KV solar project that he has sponsored there is able to lift water from the river. He has also donated a tractor to carry RO water to nearby villages. Today the villagers are able to drink clean water.”

Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit province had the following to say about Mr Shenoi: “A very few alumni have gone to support beyond their own institutions reaching out to rural areas of North Karnataka where the Jesuits work. One such alumnus is Mr Allan Shenoi who has contributed much to provide alternate energy like solar and pure drinking water in drought prone areas of Karnataka like Manvi, Bijapur and Mundgod.”
