Empowering youth for the Church: Yuvotsava held in Anekal

The scholastics studying theology at the Jesuit Formation Centre for Theology (JFCT), Anekal, along with the community members, organised ‘Yuvotsava 2023’, a day’s youth convention for the parish youth of Begur deanery on November 19 at Jnana Jyothi campus.

The theme of the day was ‘Empowering the youth for the Church of today’. Fr Jacob Anil D’Sa SDB, Director of DB Yuva Spandana, inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamps and unveiling the ‘Yuvotsava’ stage letters. Schs. Nishanth and Sharun conducted vibrant praise and worship followed by a short dance by the scholastics for the prayer song. Fr D’Sa in his address spoke on the synodal Church and the role the youth must play in the Church.

The second half of the day unfolded with a youth walk where the entire crowd was divided into five groups, each exploring the 5Gs of Yuvotsava - gift, gratitude, generosity, guide and glow.

The day culminated in a solemn thanksgiving eucharist, bringing spiritual closure to an eventful day. The province youth coordinator Fr Joel Fernandes helped with some goodies which were distributed to the participants.  A total of around 200 youth from the nine parishes from Begur deanery and students from Loyola College, Bannerugatta Road, participated in this event.
