Retreat ministry is one of the ministries that was very close to St. Ignatius. From the early beginnings of the Society of Jesus, we have been involved in transforming lives through this ministry. The Spiritual Exercises, that St. Ignatius wrote, is one of the life transforming means to reach God. Jesuits in Karnataka have been serving thousands of religious and laity through this ministry. The two retreat houses that we run, Dhyanashrama in Bangalore and Fatima Retreat House in Mangalore, cater to the spiritual thirst of today’s Catholics. “Come, relax, be still and have a vacation with God.”

The Lord invites you, "Come away to some quiet place & rest awhile" (Mk 6,31) Come & Rest awhile at Dhyanashrama - a place far away from the city set in extensive rural surroundings. It is a place with an atmosphere of 'silence.' An ideal spot for those looking for quiet reflection, personal prayer and spiritual renewal. Our Staff is available for personal guidance, spiritual accompaniment and counselling. Every Retreat here is in TOTAL SILENCE and follows the Ignatian dynamics unless otherwise stated. Depending on the availability of place, the house is also open to other groups who wish to come for silent retreats with their own director. Individuals are most welcome for their retreats throughout the year. Now, Come alone to a quiet place & rest awhile! Silence, Solitude & Prayerful Reflection.....

Fatima Retreat House

Fatima Retreat House is a place of prayer. As the Title suggests, this has been a Retreat House since over 50 years, run by the Jesuits of Karnataka. People of all walks of life are welcome to come and spend time in solitude & silence. It is a power house for all those yearning for God. The Jesuit staff here is committed to every person who comes in search of the divine. The Prarthanalaya chapel is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for short visits to the Blessed Sacrament. Residential facilities are available for those who come for retreats.

A Historical Note on Prerana
Prerana, Ignatian Spirituality Centre (ISC), is a venture of the Jesuit Province of Karnataka. It is located in Mount St. Joseph campus, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore. Fr. Rossi Rego, Treasurer of the Karnataka Jesuit Province laid the foundation stone in the presence of Fr. Vijay Kumar Prabhu, Provincial and a few other Jesuits on June 21, 2006. Thus Prerana, the Ignatian Spirituality Centre (ISC) became a reality as a fitting memorial to the Triple Jubilee (Ignatius – Xavier – Faber). Our Superior General himself was keenly interested in this project, to which he had given his whole-hearted approval.

The inauguration and blessing of Prerana, the Ignatian Spirituality Center, was done on October 19, 2007 by Fr. Lisbert D’Souza, the Regional Assistant for South Asia. All the Provincials and members of JCSA were present together with the delegates of the 35th General Congregation. All of them were accommodated in the new building.
