A Historical Note on Prerana
Prerana, Ignatian Spirituality Centre (ISC), is a venture of the Jesuit Province of Karnataka. It is located in Mount St. Joseph campus, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore. Fr. Rossi Rego, Treasurer of the Karnataka Jesuit Province laid the foundation stone in the presence of Fr. Vijay Kumar Prabhu, Provincial and a few other Jesuits on June 21, 2006. Thus Prerana, the Ignatian Spirituality Centre (ISC) became a reality as a fitting memorial to the Triple Jubilee (Ignatius – Xavier – Faber). Our Superior General himself was keenly interested in this project, to which he had given his whole-hearted approval.
The inauguration and blessing of Prerana, the Ignatian Spirituality Center, was done on October 19, 2007 by Fr. Lisbert D’Souza, the Regional Assistant for South Asia. All the Provincials and members of JCSA were present together with the delegates of the 35th General Congregation. All of them were accommodated in the new building.
Vision of Prerana
Prerana is a venture to respond to the on-going Renewal & Formation needs of religious & laity through courses on Ignatian Spirituality, Psycho-Spiritual Development, Religious Leadership, Inter-Religious Harmony, Scripture, Socio-Ecological Issues etc. The Courses designed on Christian faith are open to all.
The logo of Prerana is based on the Cardoner and La Storta experience of Ignatius.
The river below and the Cross remind us of the Cardoner and La Storta experience of Ignatius respectively.
The rays from the Cross are piercing the eye (which symbolizes the interior eye) and the reflection of the rays from the eye spreads horizontally towards the cosmos/world. The Cardoner experience brings enlightenment in Ignatius.
Here Ignatius RECEIVES A NEW VISION. He begins to see the reality from a different perspective, with the eyes of faith, as Jesus saw.
The La Storta experience was a call to share the vision by serving the world.
SHARING THE VISION through our service would bring a new flow of life into the world. A VISION RECEIVED – A VISION SHARED.
