St Joseph’s Institution at Hassan, founded in the year 1957 after the vision of Fr Aranha SJ, pioneer and dreamer, bears the motto of ‘Service, the light of life.’ The institution lends its service under four heads: The IHS, symbolising faith, hope and love that Christ teaches us; The Rising Sun, a symbol of vitality; the Lotus, depicting wholeness and the Open Hands symbolising the gift that God showers on us through Education.

The School and the College share an objective to prepare students for service. The students are provided with many opportunities to understand society, its structures such that they work for human progress in the society. Stress is laid on academic excellence, character formation, social concern and human development.

Presently, The Primary and High Schools attend to 1,413 students. Whereas, the PU educates 450 students. The Degree college has an enrolment of 305 students from various socio-economic backgrounds. The Kindergarten has 65 budding little ones. In addition, the St Joseph’s boarding cares for 79 boys from the dioceses of Chikamagalur, Bangalore, Shimoga and Mangalore. The St Joseph’s Hostel, caters to 25 boys from far and wide.

St Joseph’s, Hassan is a growing institution. With 2233 students in the campus, and 89 collaborators (Teaching and Non-teaching Staff), the institution focuses on being an institution for the education and uplift of the minorities in and around Hassan.
