Constitution Day Sindagi

“SAMVIDHAN SAMARPAN DIVAS”-A MEGA CAMPAIGN TO SAVE CONSTITUTION BY CIRD, SINDAGI, BIJAPUR

On November 29, 2019 Sangama-Centre for Integral Rural Development (CIRD), Sindagi, a venture of Bijapur Jesuit mission celebrated “SAVIDAN SAMARPAN DIVAS” (Constitution day), a mega campaign to save Indian Constitution. There was a mass rally passing the important streets of the taluk, carrying the life size replica of the “Indian Constitution” and the bust of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the sculptor of the Indian Constitution; accompanied by the exhibition of the regional folklore, dance, drumbeats, shouting slogans to save constitutions. Mr. Chetan Kumar, a kannada film actor and social activist was the guest speaker. His fiery speech enkindled a fire in the hearts of around 4000 people gathered in a public square to save the constitutions. Apart from him, Ms. Isabella Xavier, another social activist’s words presented the caste discrimination, gender bias and the threats to women and she mentioned that our society is not in line with the rights and privileges provided to the women by the Indian Constitution. Fr. Anthony Dass, the Mission Superior of Bijapur, Fr. Alwyn D’Souza, the Coordinator and Director of CIRD, Sr. Anitha, asst. Director of CIRD and Fr. Jerald D’Souza, advocate, Fr. Lumnesh Swaroop, environmentalist were present along with some other prominent political and religious leaders of the Vijayapur district
